Springing into Real Estate: Why the Season is Ideal for Home Buyers
As the days grow longer and temperatures rise, the real estate market awakens from its winter slumber, making spring an optimal time for prospective homebuyers to enter the fray. From blooming flowers to the renewed sense of optimism, there are several reasons why spring is considered a prime season for purchasing real estate. In this article, we'll explore the advantages of buying a home during the spring months and provide valuable insights for those embarking on their home-buying journey. Increased Inventory: One of the key benefits of buying a home in spring is the surge in housing inventory. Sellers often wait until the snow has melted and the weather is more favorable to showcase their homes. This abundance of listings provides buyers with a diverse range of options, increasing the likelihood of finding a property that suits their needs and preferences. Curb Appeal: Spring is synonymous with vibrant colors and lush landscapes. As nature comes back to life, homes tend to look more appealing, with blossoming flowers, green lawns, and leafy trees enhancing curb appeal. The visual appeal of a property can have a significant impact on its market value and can make a lasting impression on potential buyers. Favorable Weather: Unlike the harsh conditions of winter or the scorching heat of summer, spring offers mild and comfortable weather for home tours and inspections. Prospective buyers can explore properties without the inconvenience of extreme temperatures, making the entire home-buying process more enjoyable. Optimal Market Conditions: Spring often sees a more balanced market, where both buyers and sellers are actively engaged. The increased competition can lead to more reasonable pricing and motivated sellers eager to close deals. Buyers may find themselves in a better negotiating position during this time, making it an opportune moment to strike a favorable deal. School-Year Considerations: Families with children often prefer to move during the summer months to minimize disruptions to the school year. Buying a home in spring allows for a smoother transition, ensuring that families can settle into their new homes before the start of the next school term. Spring is a season of renewal and growth, and it holds advantages for those looking to enter the real estate market. With increased inventory, enhanced curb appeal, favorable weather, optimal market conditions, and consideration for school-year transitions, spring sets the stage for a successful and satisfying home-buying experience. So, if you're contemplating a move, now may be the perfect time to embrace the spirit of the season and find your dream home. RRG Table Talk: Suzy Joran
Meet Suzy Joran, a dedicated Realtor/Associate Broker, wife, mom, and aspiring pickle ball pro! Suzy grew up in Lovettsville, VA. She and husband John moved to WV in 1992 and raised two children. She states she “married her house” in Cloverdale Heights by living there 25 years! Suzy obtained her VA real estate license while working in mortgage banking in the early 90’s. She said, “I had to make a choice on what path I wanted to take.” Suzy stuck with mortgage banking for awhile, raised her family, and after losing her mother in December 2004, entered college to become an RN to turn her pain into something good and to help people. After working 13 years as an Elementary school nurse, when she turned 50, she decided to try and pursue her real estate career again full time. She obtained her real estate license in 2017 in West Virginia, VA license in 2018 and became an Associate Broker in 2023. When asked how Suzy ended up at Roberts Realty Group, she said it started when she called Kim Viands, our Transaction Coordinator, on the way home from the first week of the broker course. Suzy knew she needed to make some changes and let go of some control (ha ha). Suzy and Kim have been friends for over 20 years and Suzy mentioned wanting to work for a more local, community based brokerage, and get some back up help to allow more pickle ball time. Kim said she should try coming to work for RRG and the rest is history. What Suzy enjoys most about working for a grassroots company is the fun and fellowship and always having someone to mastermind with. She said, “It is always a fun environment when I step into the office; the laid back atmosphere is very welcoming and everyone is always willing to listen and troubleshoot when needed.” Real estate is a competitive environment and over the years Suzy has learned quite a bit, but the main thing she has learned is that real estate is a relationship business and authenticity is key; She always says, “what you see is what you get!” She also states it is not a fast buck; it requires discipline, consistency, and great communication. Joran’s favorite thing about being an agent is the flexibility with her schedule and the relationships she makes along the way with her clients. Over the years she has formed valuable relationships that she will cherish forever. Suzy hopes to make an impact in her community by helping people with their real estate needs whether they are selling, buying, or renting. She listens, problem solves, and goes above and beyond for her clients. In the next five years Suzy hopes to be semi-retired while continuing to score on the pickle ball court!
