    RRG Table Talk: Suzy Joran

Meet Suzy Joran, a dedicated Realtor/Associate Broker, wife, mom, and aspiring pickle ball pro! Suzy grew up in Lovettsville, VA.  She and husband John moved to WV in 1992 and raised two children. She states she “married her house” in Cloverdale Heights by living there 25 years! Suzy obtained her VA real estate license while working in mortgage banking in the early 90’s. She said, “I had to make a choice on what path I wanted to take.” Suzy stuck with mortgage banking for awhile, raised her family, and after losing her mother in December 2004, entered college to become an RN to turn her pain into something good and to help people.  After working 13 years as an Elementary school nurse, when she turned 50, she decided to try and pursue her real estate career again full time. She obtained her real estate license in 2017 in West Virginia, VA license in 2018 and became an Associate Broker in 2023. When asked how Suzy ended up at Roberts Realty Group, she said it started when she called Kim Viands, our Transaction Coordinator, on the way home from the first week of the broker course.  Suzy knew she needed to make some changes and let go of some control (ha ha).  Suzy and Kim have been friends for over 20 years and Suzy mentioned wanting to work for a more local, community based brokerage, and get some back up help to allow more pickle ball time. Kim said she should try coming to work for RRG and the rest is history. What Suzy enjoys most about working for a grassroots company is the fun and fellowship and always having someone to mastermind with. She said, “It is always a fun environment when I step into the office; the laid back atmosphere is very welcoming and everyone is always willing to listen and troubleshoot when needed.” Real estate is a competitive environment and over the years Suzy has learned quite a bit, but the main thing she has learned is that real estate is a relationship business and authenticity is key; She always says, “what you see is what you get!” She also states it is not a fast buck; it requires discipline, consistency, and great communication. Joran’s favorite thing about being an agent is the flexibility with her schedule and the relationships she makes along the way with her clients. Over the years she has formed valuable relationships that she will cherish forever.  Suzy hopes to make an impact in her community by helping people with their real estate needs whether they are selling, buying, or renting. She listens, problem solves, and goes above and beyond for her clients. In the next five years Suzy hopes to be semi-retired while continuing to score on the pickle ball court! RRG Table Talk: Julie Chen

Meet Julie Chen, a realtor, proud mom, and teacher’s aide. When she is not working or juggling being a mom, she is enjoying one of her favorite hobbies and that is finding/collecting old antiques, trinkets, and other cool finds and decorating her home. Julie has been a resident of Jefferson County her whole life, growing up in Shepherdstown and into adulthood settling in Charles Town, WV. Julie got involved in real estate eight years ago in 2015. She got into it when her brother approached her with the idea. He said it would be a good fit because she is so personable. She ended up at Roberts Realty Group when she originally was on Alison Roberts’ team. She formed a close relationship with Alison and when RRG turned into an independent brokerage she followed them. Julie has been with them ever since. What attracted Chen to staying with Roberts Realty Group was the bond of the brokerage. RRG is a community based business who stays true to their grassroots and where they came from. Julie says the brokerage is like a family and every time everyone gets together for a community event, employee hang out, or other meetings it is always a fun, relaxed environment you want to be apart of. Her favorite memory at RRG is getting together with other agents from the brokerage at Harpers Ferry Brewery for employee days and being able to step out of work mode and be their goofy, quirky selves and laughing, having a good time. Since being in the real estate industry one thing Julie has learned and that has helped her grow her brand is making connections with people and forming those bonds, whether that be community partners she works with or new clients. Forming bonds and meeting new people is important in this industry. One of Julies favorite things about being an agent is helping clients find their forever homes and a bonus is when showing homes she can take inspiration from how others decorate and what new ideas she can come up with in her own home. The impact Julie hopes to make in her community is to show people she is there to help you whether it is finding your perfect home or just being a good shoulder to rely on. She wants people to feel safe with her and that they can come to her for anything. In the next five years Julie hopes to build her brand even more and continue making strides in the industry. She also wants to be more involved in the community and continue building bonds with people she has met along her journey and the new people to come. If you are looking for an agent that will make you laugh and make you feel at home while finding your forever home, give Julie Chen a call today! Cell: (304) 820-5387      Email: Julie@Robertsrg.com
