RRG Table Talk: Julie Chen
Meet Julie Chen, a realtor, proud mom, and teacher’s aide. When she is not working or juggling being a mom, she is enjoying one of her favorite hobbies and that is finding/collecting old antiques, trinkets, and other cool finds and decorating her home. Julie has been a resident of Jefferson County her whole life, growing up in Shepherdstown and into adulthood settling in Charles Town, WV. Julie got involved in real estate eight years ago in 2015. She got into it when her brother approached her with the idea. He said it would be a good fit because she is so personable. She ended up at Roberts Realty Group when she originally was on Alison Roberts’ team. She formed a close relationship with Alison and when RRG turned into an independent brokerage she followed them. Julie has been with them ever since. What attracted Chen to staying with Roberts Realty Group was the bond of the brokerage. RRG is a community based business who stays true to their grassroots and where they came from. Julie says the brokerage is like a family and every time everyone gets together for a community event, employee hang out, or other meetings it is always a fun, relaxed environment you want to be apart of. Her favorite memory at RRG is getting together with other agents from the brokerage at Harpers Ferry Brewery for employee days and being able to step out of work mode and be their goofy, quirky selves and laughing, having a good time. Since being in the real estate industry one thing Julie has learned and that has helped her grow her brand is making connections with people and forming those bonds, whether that be community partners she works with or new clients. Forming bonds and meeting new people is important in this industry. One of Julies favorite things about being an agent is helping clients find their forever homes and a bonus is when showing homes she can take inspiration from how others decorate and what new ideas she can come up with in her own home. The impact Julie hopes to make in her community is to show people she is there to help you whether it is finding your perfect home or just being a good shoulder to rely on. She wants people to feel safe with her and that they can come to her for anything. In the next five years Julie hopes to build her brand even more and continue making strides in the industry. She also wants to be more involved in the community and continue building bonds with people she has met along her journey and the new people to come. RRG Table Talk: Colleen Lopez
Meet Colleen Lopez, she is a real estate agent and proud mom. She moved here from Gaithersburg, Maryland about 14 years ago for a different change of pace and scenery. Colleen became an agent in 2020 and has been building her brand from the ground up since. In three years she has become a top producer and has made a good name for herself in the area. When asked why she wanted to get into real estate she said, “I have always been interested in it and I grew up with a mortgage based family, my mom was an underwriter, my uncle was a realtor, and my grandfather was a flipper.” Colleen has been with Roberts Realty Group since day one. She started as part of Alison Roberts’ team that eventually grew into an independent brokerage. Grassroots are at the forefront for RRG and maintaining that community feel is important to the brokerage. Lopez enjoys the fun and easy vibe of the brokerage and there is no pressure to be anything other than you and the goals you set for yourself. There isn’t a corporate feel when stepping into the office. Since being at RRG there have been many memories made and reflecting back Colleen said, “some of my favorite memories are anything when we all can get together and have a good time.” Whether that is the Christmas parade, pool parties in the summer, or making creative and spooky TikTok’s with other agents in the fall. Since being in the real estate industry Colleen has learned a lot but the main thing, she has learned is how no one contract is the same. You get to work with different clients and help them with specific wants and needs. It keeps you on your toes and every day is a new adventure. Colleens’ favorite thing about being an agent is the flexibility and freedom you have. You can make your own schedule and it is up to you whether you want to dive deep into real estate or stay at the wayside. Lopez hopes to make an impact in the community by finding her clients their forever home and keeping them happy during the whole home buying and selling process. In the next five years Colleen will have two kids in college and one on the way to college and hopes to be doing amazing in real estate to achieve a goal of a debt free life and to help support her kids in their college journeys. RRG Table Talk: George Nunn
Meet George Nunn or in real estate, Agent Geo. George is a native of the Berkeley County area. You might know him from coaching or being a ref at your kids’ sports games, teaching the youth, and now he is forging a new path in the real estate world. The first time George thought about the potential of being a real estate agent was when he was having lunch with a friend and the friend mentioned becoming a real estate agent. He brushed it to the side and when he met the same friend a few months later he brought up the idea with him again. After some consideration George took the course and obtained his real estate license in 2022. He ended up at Roberts Realty Group after having many brokerages reach out to him but Alison Roberts ended up recruiting him after persistence and being the most genuine and homelike brokerage that he met with. RRG prides themselves on being a grassroots business in the community. In the words of Agent Geo, “it is a personable and fun environment where I can be myself and not shy away from that.” Reflecting on Georges favorite memory since being at Roberts Realty Group is not as much a specific memory as an experience. Starting from the ground up and not knowing much about the real estate industry when first being introduced and learning along the way from his fellow agents and being supported in the field. Nunn’s specific goal was to get on the white board in office and keep his name on the board of closings coming soon. He has achieved that. When asked what’s the biggest thing you have learned since becoming an agent, George responded with, “Being available and making time for your clients at any times and making them feel valuable and needed when they call upon you.” George’s favorite thing about being an agent besides making them feel happy when a deal goes through is the relationships he has built along the way with clients. Some have turned into friends and the connections formed are long term. While Nunn has been a prominent face in the community for years now, he is still heavily involved in his community and hopes to make an impact as an agent, friend, family man, and more. The Boys and Girls Club was a huge part of his life growing up and he wants to give back and serve them as he grows and becomes more successful in real estate. He wants to put time and money back into the place that helped raise him. In the next five years George Nunn hopes to open his own office or have a team and build it up and give back to the community however he can. If you are looking for a community driven, fun realtor, give Agent Geo a call! Cell: (304) 995-6757 Email: agentgeo@robertsrg.com
